| I live in an apartment and there’s another apartment across the air shaft/courtyard. My kitchen sink window overlooks what is, I think, their bedroom, or a bedroom. I’d say 5 out of 7 nights, I will be at the sink, make eye contact with the woman, and she will close her blinds. I don’t have blinds on my window because I don’t feel the need for the privacy, all you can is me at the sink or the wall to the right. I don’t know this person yet every night I’m sort of embarrassed! I don’t know who was looking first, but we always make awkward eye contact. |
| Why don’t you hit on her? |
| Thanks for sharing. |
I’m a woman and she’s an older woman! |
| It doesn’t have to be awkward. Just smile at her. |
Thanks for reading! I guess I failed to ask my question, which was, am I wrong to look out my window in the evenings when I know I can see into her apartment? I’m not specifically looking at her apartment, but I sort of can’t help it. Would it be polite to cover my window? Or is it fine since she doesn’t close hers until she sees me? |
Read this again and see if you can hear how insane this sounds. |
And? |
| Maybe consider a very sheer curtain - keep it open during the day and close it at night. That might remove some of the awkwardness. |
You are overthinking. Smile and nod and that's really all there is to it. She can have her window covered or not, as she chooses. Windows are at sinks so you can look out, after all. |
| She opens it for light. When you see her it reminds her to close them again. Nothing nefarious. |
| No way I’d put up a curtain to appease the awkward neighbor |
Cougars. Sweet. |
Or window treatments that make it hard to look in but easy to look out - they exist … |
| Creepy you are watching her. |
