My town of Cheverly just passed a measure to allow 16 year olds to vote in town elections, something allowed by Maryland state legislation.

Cheverly, with a population of just over 6,100, joins the Maryland suburbs of Greenbelt, Hyattsville, Riverdale Park, and Takoma Park in allowing teens to vote at the same age they get their driver’s license.

Juveniles brains are either responsible for making mature decisions or they are not. The same people who think they are too young to be held responsible for mature actions are the same people who think they are mature enough and old enough to vote and change policy.

Cheverly is already Blue.

But that’s why you should vote for lowering the age to 16, because it will further marginalize republicans. Maybe even get the few republican hold-outs to finally move someplace else.
