I am getting bombarded by mental health apps

Anonymous
We just switched to Carefirst and in browsing my plan's website for mental health resources to help with anxiety, I've been directed to a bunch of different apps. Some of them provide therapy sessions and some do not. It's not clear where I verify if the therapy is covered or what the copay is (I did call, but when you call they say it's not a guarantee of coverage and what they told me about copays does not quite match my plan)

- 7 Cups
- Headway
- AbleTo (via CloseKnit)

Are any of these apps worthwhile? I saw AbleTo offers an 8 week CBT program guided with a therapist which appeals to me because it is time limited (I've had bad experiences with therapists who just ask me how I am during each session and there doesn't seem to be much of a plan on their end). But the online reviews for AbleTo are pretty mixed. Should I just skip the apps and find a regular therapist? I'd really like a guided CBT program that is not aimless.

BCBS has been snail mailing me crap in the mail from some third party company for blood sugar issues. They pimped me out. Is this even allowed?

Yes, it’s allowed. Insurance companies scrape their database and target members with specific health conditions. Don’t you want more resources to help manage your health? If not, just throw our the postcard.

Some of us still think our private health information is private. The patient should be the one to control who gets to know what. I don't need anyone, not even my insurance company, deciding to share my diagnoses with companies I've never interacted with.

It's about 8 pieces of mail from the same company. It's crazy at this point.

You can go uninsured if you don't like it.

I agree. I can't understand how this isn't a privacy issue.

That is disgusting. That should have been addressed under ObamaCare. And I just switched to BCBS, ugh!
