Rock Creek Forest ES RCF ES New principal

Anonymous
We heard a new Principal at RCF. Is this a temp or permanent principal? Was this the former assistant principal at the school, a former teacher staff member at the school or did they hire from outside?

The current principal is one of many acting principals this year, and the permanent positions are being advertised. She may well apply for the job and be selected. She was formerly an AP at Blair.

So RCF, CCES, and NCC are all getting new principals next year?

I think it’s a lot more than 3 schools.

A new assistant principal at RCF this year? Who is the new AP? How is the new AP? Approachable if a parent needs to talk? Do they engage with PTA? Some schools' APs are better with parents than the principal. Does RCF still have the full Spanish immersion?

The PP meant the east side ES in the BCC cluster

19 school principal positions advertised across MCPS so far. It would be fair to expect at least 5-8 more before the end of the school year.

yes RCF still has the Spanish immersion program. AP is also new - don't know much about him except that he's better than the new/acting principal.

Go act like you support teachers.

Friends told us the AP (new/acting not sure which one) was a middle school teacher prior to new role at RCF. RCF's acting principal was an AP at Blair for few years. Is it common for a school to have a new Principal and AP in the same year?

RCF, under acting principal, still received A rating (5 star) on latest the Maryland report card.

It's not that common, but it happens.

But that report is based on the 2022-23 school year data, which was during the previous principal's tenure.
