College Acceptances This Year In MCPS

Anonymous
This year the admittance to top 20 schools is down unless kids not posting.

And?

Not everyone is perpetually online. Even teenagers occasionally let things happen without posting them.

How do you know it’s down? Regular decision won’t be released until March.

Comparing to private school ED which is filled with IVYs and maybe a few at MCPS W & BCC - it's a pittance.
Anonymous
I confused - is OP checking every single school's Instagram pages for EAs?

A lot of schools/programs have a culture of not advertising or announcing acceptances until later in the year. I think that's healthy, to be honest.

WJ’s results are much, much stronger this year compared to same time last year. OP - what is the basis for your assertion?
Anonymous
No one has a good view of this yet. They have word of mouth about their own school's EA admissions. That's it. Disregard conclusions like this until mid April.

+1. OP, please let us know how you are tracking this data for all of MCPS.

Someone's taking a Sun Tzu approach to college admissions.

Actually no. Compare to the private schools, the few MCPS schools I have seen ( Churchill, Whitman, WJ, RM) are doing better.

Folks leave this alone. It’s a troll post intended to start drama because the private school parents are “trying” to compare EA/ED looks across private school and then to area public’s.

Seriously, let this thread die now so we aren’t beginning ridiculous arguments over college acceptance/decision fl that aren’t finish and for which we have no basis of knowing the reporting.

I like this thread. Helpful in seeing if we want to keep kids in MCPS or go for a private. Here is the full list. If you don't like it, skp this post. Some of us find it helpful. And most know that not "all kids post" and to look at Bethesda Magazine with a grain of arctic salt!

It might be surprising to some, but more and more HS kids are keeping ED acceptance results to themselves out of kindness to their peers. They don’t all need to instantly rush to Instagram to brag. Last year it wasn’t until March/April that I started to see the results for many top students I knew at the HS I teach at.

And to the person who posted the list of all the private school Instagram pages - good grief. Take a chill pill. 🙄

++1. Anyone who wants to see the list can look up the overly active thread in the private school forum or find the IG pages themself. Let’s try and do better by not stalking HS Seniors and their respective HS about college acceptances/decisions while they are in the midst of a stressful time.
