- change your air filters - At least every 2-3months. I buy a dozen MERV 13 at a time from filterbuy when they have a sale.

- have someone clean your dryer vent- at least 2 times per year

- clean your AC condenser - once per year and I remove the entire outer coverings so the whole condenser is cleaned.

- check/clean your gutters - several times per year

- clean your hot water heater - never, it’s on the list, along with replacing the anode rod, 10yrs old gas

- change the batteries in your smoke detectors - never ours are 10yr lithium

- other (feel free to add your own)

We do -- DH just said, "Yes, of course I change the filters." I didn't know. Sorry. I guess I'm more clueless than I realized about our home maintenance. He tells me he also cleans the dryer vent "when it needs it."

I’m surprised at the number of people who don’t have the 10-year smoke detector batteries.

You don't change your air filters? That can be a costly mistake- your HVAC will freeze if the filter is too dirty.
