How often do you REALLY:
- change your air filters - have someone clean your dryer vent - clean your AC condenser - check/clean your gutters - clean your hot water heater - change the batteries in your smoke detectors - other (feel free to add your own) |
|
Air filters: on time (every 2 months), or maybe a few days to a week late
Gutters, dryer vent, smoke detectors: Regularly but we often end up being mildly to moderately behind the recommended schedule Water heater & AC condenser: never |
|
We clean our gutters once a year.
We don’t do anything else on that list. |
|
Air filters: every 2.5 months
Dryer vent: 2-3 years Gutters: 2x a year Hot water heater: every other year Smoke Detector batteries: when they beep AC Condenser: uh, should we be doing this? If so, how? |
Do you not have a HVAC system? |
|
This is all diy. |
|
Air filters: every 2 months
Gutters and windows: once a year Dryer vent: ours is just a short tube that vents to the outside from the basement, we check it every year or two Smoke alarm: if it beeps |

- change your air filters. Every 3 months - have someone clean your dryer vent. Every 2 years - clean your AC condenser. ? I have the A/C system checked annually— maybe they do it? - check/clean your gutters. 2 times a year - clean your hot water heater never? - change the batteries in your smoke detectors. When they beep - other (feel free to add your own) |
Also I check the carbon monoxide detectors twice a year and clean the outside dryer cover/trap monthly. |
We do -- DH just said, "Yes, of course I change the filters." I didn't know. Sorry. I guess I'm more clueless than I realized about our home maintenance. He tells me he also cleans the dryer vent "when it needs it." |
CHANGE REFRIGERATOR FILTER ANNUALLY |
| I’m surprised at the number of people who don’t have the 10-year smoke detector batteries. |
You don't change your air filters? That can be a costly mistake- your HVAC will freeze if the filter is too dirty. |
