Is this a UTI that my 3-year old has?

Anonymous
My 3-year old DD has been needing to go potty frequently for the past few days - up to multiple times in an hour. She’s also had several pee accidents during nap time at home where we had to change her undies and bedding.

She has not mentioned any pain when peeing and doesn’t have a fever. Her bowel movements have been normal.

Is this sounding like a UTI being that the only syndrome is frequency?

Maybe a UTI. Maybe diabetes. Call the ped and take her in today or tomorrow. This is worth getting checked out quickly.

Best to get it checked out due to the rare but serious possibility of diabetes. Is she drinking more too, peeing large amounts or just a little at a time? That merits an appointment asap.

Otherwise could be UTI or could be something else. My 5 yo was like this after a recent stomach bug and the dr said her inflamed intestines were cramping and it was probably triggering her bladder very suddenly when it happened.

I would take her to urgent care tonight if you can.

Urgent care now

Why didn't you take her to the doctor instead of asking strangers on the incident? Wow.

I’d take her to urgent care. Could be a uti. It is just a “pee in a cup” test, nothing intrusive.

I would not take her to urgent care if she’s in no discomfort, acting normally, and just peeing frequently. For my kids that’s usually a sign of constipation.

I just reread and saw the accidents. That’s a little more concerning. Call your ped for advice.

Cool. Frequent urination and thirst are also signs of Type I diabetes and frequently starts at 3 or 4. Maybe you shouldn't discourage people from seeking medical care. Smh

Maybe you should learn your lesson and not discourage people from seeking medical care, particularly when you can't be bothered to read their entire post. SMH.

Go to a pharmacy and get a blood sugar tester and test her sugar in the morning if you don’t go to urgent care.

It is probably NOT diabetes but you want to rule it out. If it is, it’s a medical emergency and you need to deal with it urgently.

There are some truly hysterical parents on here today.
