We were staying in a hotel in South Carolina on NYE. The next morning at breakfast, I used a coffee cup to make tea and the attendant came over and sharply fussed at me that I was doing it wrong. Everyone was quiet and watched, so I just apologized and moved on.
A few minutes later, a man went over and did exactly what I had done and the attendant told him “oh sir, you can’t do it that way.” He argued with her and she was always polite. It’s so unfair how men are treated so much better, and I fine this especially true in the south. |

What do you expect from an uneducated southerner?
|
Someone using one weird, dumb story to make such sweeping generalizations sounds pretty uneducated, too. |
|
Cool story?
|
| Yes women are not yet equal. Keep fighting |

Yes, people treat men more deferentially and respectfully. They also treat white people better than other races, and rich people better than poor people.
Western society is full of prejudices that continue to benefit wealthy white men over all others, as has been true for centuries. And the cool trick is that wealthy white men mostly manage to deflect this fundamental truth by pitting marginalized people against one another. So women are taught to fear black men (and view white men as protection). People of color view white women as "Karens" (a term white men have co-opted and LOVE to use, if you're paying attention). Middle and working class people are taught to blame poor people for everything so they never think to consider how the wealthy have structured the rules to benefit only themselves. And so on. This is why there is a lot of power in marginalized groups banding together to help, defend, and promote one another. |

You like to drink the kool-aid, eh? |
Where's the lie? |
Very wise. |
+1 extremely ignorant and uneducated |
Agree but it isn’t limited to Western society! It’s all society. |
| I'd rather be a woman in the south than a woman virtually anywhere else in this world. |
| OP you were supposed to fan your face and yell out "why I do declare! this man has given me the vapors!" Then faint and you will wake up with the correct tea and coffee. |
So, when did you graduate from Barnard? |
