Not just for weight loss!
I went on Wegovy in August, motivated far more by my high cholesterol than my weight. I have lost 30 lbs so far, with about 10 more to go I think. I had my cholesterol re-tested this week and it is down so much!!! Total is down over 50 points (to 229), my triglycerides are way down, although both still high they are much closer to normal (I may have some genetic preposition for it). Chol/hdlc ratio is in normal range, hdl is only 2 pts above normal range. I'm thrilled! I see the doc next month and we'll see what they say-I would like to lose 10 more lbs and retest in 3 months, but if they think I need to start a med, I will. But reading the report-it seems to be not far above normal range, and way less than it was! I'm so glad I tried Wegovy. I've had minimal side effects, I've lost weight, my cholesterol is down and the 'food noise' is under control. I eat normal, healthy foods at normal, appropriate portions. My 2023 health journey is ending on a positive note. |
| Congrats, OP! |
Thank you! I am really dedicated to being the healthiest me I can be-at 52, I have 2 elderly parents and a SN dc (and my other kids also) who need me alive and healthy. I also want people to know that these meds can be amazing and beneficial for some people, and not just for weight loss. I hope in the new year that more people who may benefit from them, have the opportunity to do so. |
| Me too! On for 11.5 months, down 50 pounds. No bad side effects, and cholesterol and blood pressure are way down! |

Congratulations OP. That’s awesome.
I’m wondering about other positive outcomes. My friend on it says that her morning serious body aches are gone and they disappeared before she lost any real weight. Same with her rosacea (which I see visibly—the difference is very noticeable). I feel like there is obviously something systemic going on. She’s lost like 40 lbs. but it’s not just weight. |
| Yay! Congratulations! |
| Congratulations! I’m so jealous. I’ve had a prescription since August, but no where to fill it. |
| Glad it worked well! I’m jealous AF |
| Great news OP! |
OP here. There is a wegovyweightloss reddit (I just read, don't have an acct) and they have good suggestions about getting the prescription filled. I'm not local to this board, but the reddit people are from all over and have a lot of tips. |
OP here, that's awesome! |
| But have you gotten "ozempic face"? 30-50 lbs usually ages your face 2-3 decades. |
No, my face has always been a bit fuller and it looks the same. Also, my weight loss has been modest and steady (1 to 2 lbs a week) plus I was and am active so I haven't lost any muscle or gotten saggy skin. |
| My husband was approved for it but there has been no med available at pharmacy. Where are you getting it in the area? |
Are you just paying out of pocket? Why did your dr prescribe it? |
