Lululemon Navy Yard closed “temporarily” after being robbed at gunpoint

We are NY - police (often 2-3) on every corner up and downtown. Perfectly pleasant, keeping an eye on things. Stores are locked and buzz you in..seems like a nice set up for the good guys, not the bad guys.

Luxury brand stores in NYC have restricted access for decades. I've been wondering why more DC businesses haven't started doing this.

How about we start restricting criminal’s access to places instead of the other way around? That would be a novel idea, huh?

I have no issue with that, but I also think deterring thieving flashmobs is a good thing. All the stores had security and there were more cops standing out on a block than I've seen in our whole city this year. easy to mount a response with police everywhere.

Robbery inside Macy's at Metro Center this evening

That Lulu store has been hit repeatedly, exact number would come up on MPD crime cards. I feel sorry for the employees.

Gunpoint? The thieves should be locked up for a long time, like 20 years.

No place is completely safe, but in NYC it is reassuring that the NYPD are so visible. They aren’t just in their patrol cars, but also a strong presence on sidewalks.

They were amazing. Mostly directing traffic and keeping order, but also there in a pinch. Made me feel WAY SAFER as a woman than I have been feeling walking around DC.
