I need ideas for something to bring to a work potluck tomorrow. I cook/bake all kinds of things, but have never settled on my own go-to recipe. For this particular potluck, they don't need anymore desserts or clearly easy things (like rolls). So I guess I'm looking for a main, a side, or a veggie option. I can cook more complicated things, but I have very little energy remaining at this point in the holiday season so bonus points if it's easy.
Do you have any tried and true dishes that you care to share? Inspire me! |
| Snark. |
| I don't participate in potlucks. |
| A decline |
|
macaroni and cheese for hot
chips and different dips/salsas for cold |
|
Mini potatoes.
Boil Cut top and bottom to be flat Pipe crème fraîche on top (or sour cream) Top with salmon roe from whole food ($15) if you want to be fancy, top with sliced scallions/green onions .. vegetarian and less fancy |
| I was going to say macaroni and cheese too, because it checks all three boxes. For cold I'd do cheese and crackers or maybe pitas and hummus. |
| Brownies. |
|
pasta salad is often my go to.
But another hit is those hawaian rolls, cut in half, filled sandwich style with ham and swiss, then top with melted butter mixed with garlic and onion seasoning. Then baked just until they brown and the cheese melts. |
Meatballs with grape jelly and chili sauce |
| Veggie tray from Wegmans |
This isn’t the flex you think it is. And it’s not something to boast about. |
| And easy hearty harvest green salad of some type-- apples, sweet potatoes, almonds, craisins, lettuce of choice, vinagrette |
| A bowl of berries. Sliced strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries. If I have time, I'll buy mint and make a pretty ring of leaves around the edge. I feel like this sounds like a cop out, that it isn't really making anything, but it gets eaten up fast. |
