For a kid who wants Greek life and trends towards the "bro" culture, what are good options for liberal arts colleges?
I.e. not Oberlin (where I went). Thank you! |
Maybe Lehigh or Bucknell? |
Bucknell! Bros in spades. |
OP here. Thx!
He's likely going to apply to both Bucknell and Lehigh as well as some large universities. Any ideas for liberal arts colleges with some element of this culture that are a tier above Bucknell? He's actually a really studious kid--a weird mix of super academic and social "bro" (party going, guy's guy, sports loving, etc). |
Gettysburg |
Claremont McKenna for the win |
Union. DS was recruited to play football and lax there, but that culture is what turned him off. He went elsewhere. If this is what your kid is looking for, he will love it. |
Colgate |
I have no personal experience, so I'm sure people will correct me if I'm wrong, but Colgate seems to have that vibe. Maybe W&L? CMC if you want an West Coast option. |
yes, definitely Colgate.
Miami University is not a LAC but checks the boxes. Sewanee. |
Reach: Colgate, W&L
Target: Bucknell, Lehigh, Lafayette Low target: Trinity Safety: Gettysburg, Union |
University of Richmond
Washington & Lee |
Amherst |
Wake Forest if you want a slightly bigger school (around 5400 students) with power 5 sports. Class sizes never more than 50 students even as freshman in STEM or business, and most significantly smaller. |
Miami University if you want to be in Ohio. |
