How long did you wait to workout after the flu? I was sick over the weekend but no longer have a fever. I tried a simple treadmill walk and my lungs were burning today. I hate sitting around doing anything. Please give me hope that I can return to normal soon! |

I had Covid recently and went back to Peloton rides about 3 days after my last fever. A week later and i am still pausing rides to blow my nose and cough, sticking mainly to low impact. Oh and the first 15 minutes of the workout feels like crap. |

Generally, one weekend isn't enough to get over the flu. Drink a crap ton of fluids and watch Netflix. You can go a week or two without working out and you won't lose fitness. |
I’m struggling with this. Diagnosed with Flu A one week ago and still don’t feel 100%. Want to work out but my lungs hurt and my cough is still pretty bad. I’m going to start with walking this week and see how that goes. My normal
workout routine involves weights and running, and I just don’t think I can yet. |
My 10yr old had the flu last winter and it took him a full 2-3 weeks to feel ok at swim practice. Take it easy. The flu really takes a lot out of you. Start with some sort walks. Don’t over do it. |
I did some light weights 2 days after my fever broke. I basically did 1/2 the weight I would normally use. And didn’t do cardio for several weeks! |
I would start very slowly and build up. Do you have an inhaler? My doctor prescribed one when I had covid because she said it might be helpful when I got back to workouts. I didn’t need it for indoor workouts but I ended up using it 2-3 times for outdoor runs and it made a HUGE difference. |
I had a really mild virus earlier this week and was shocked at how much my lungs burned when I exercised yesterday. I had to stay about 60-70% of my normal intensity.
Flu is a whole other thing and can take weeks to recover from. I’d focus on walking for the next week or two, moderating based on how you feel. When I had a mild case of covid last year, it took me about six weeks to get back up to my normal intensity. |
If you were only sick for 1 weekend, then I doubt you had the flu. I'd say go back and listen to your body. |
Totally plausible if vaccinated. We always get the flu vaccine and the few times we’ve gotten the flu, the duration has been shorter and the overall illness has been less sever. |
Then I don’t see why someone would need to scale back or really give too much thought to resuming exercise. |
