| Can someone please explain to me what Points For (PF) and Points Allowed (PA) and Point Differential (PD) means in Basketball Standings? |
| Points for is how many points your team scored. Points allowed is how many the other team scored. Point differential is the difference between what your team scored overall and how many points were scored by your opponents overall. |
|
Seriously?
A) Points for - how many total points a team scored in all of their games. B) Points against - how many total points a team allowed to be scored in all of their games. Point differential - the different between A and B. So if a team scored 45, 55, 28, their points for would be 128. If a team gave up 34, 34, and 33, their points against would be 100. Their point differential would be +28 (128 minus 100) If you flipped the above then the differential would a -28 (100 minute 128). |

Who knows, because it's BB, maybe someone thought it PF was for "personal fouls", in which case it would be all the fouls that should be called in these games but aren't, LOL.

OK and since you're smart and knowing, how does this affect standing? What statistic is used to determine standing? |
| If you’re talking about ST James, wins determines standings. Point differential is the first tie breaker, but it’s capped and plus or minus 15 per game |
What's St James? Talking winter league. |
The St James winter league. St James and Boyds are where AAU teams play in the winter |
| Maybe OP is referring to FCYBL Winter League? |
Apologies for the confusion. Yes, OP is wondering about standing in FCYBL and not St. James or AAU. |
| FCYBL is very inaccurate. A lot of information is not computed correctly. In the standings, I found a team that's at 1st place with a 1-2 record with PF (Points For) 169 and PA (Points Against) 38, but if you click on the team's schedule...they were 0-3. I would wait a week for the information to be sorted out. |
| The FCYBL website is terrible. It was much better last year. They seem to be putting in the wins, losses by hand. I can't believe how messed up it has all been this year. You put the score in and it takes days to show up, shows up as a win when it was a loss, etc. Let alone not even having games for the rest of the year scheduled. Last year we had the full schedule published before the season began. |
Some schedules are up and some aren't. Does anyone know why that is? |
| Maybe due to lack of resources? It's winter break after all. I would check back in a week. |
League Athletics went under (or was bought out by SportsEngine) which was what most leagues were using (clear interface, easy to use). So most leagues have had to migrate to SportsEngine which blows. Not even basic functionality - both to the public as well as league administrators who make these leagues run. Pretty crappy for SportsEngine to shut down LA when they only had far inferior product available... |
