Neighbor always parks in front of other neighbors homes but not in front of theirs?

Anonymous
Since they finished remodeling they have parked their cars next to the neighbor next to them and a few doors down where we live right across the street ( it's a narrow road so cars parked on opposite sides makes it even tighter). Is this just to be rude? Why would they do this?

They try to leave the front of their home carless for some reason all the time.

It’s a public street …

Okay but any idea why they wouldn't park in front of their house? Is it just to annoy?

Why does this issue come up all the time? It’s a public street. People can park anywhere. If you don’t like what they are doing, go knock on the door and tell them to move their car.

I do it to annoy.

I know it's a public street and I would tell them to move it if I needed the space but it's not encroaching yet but I know it's encroaching on our next door neighbors space. He's older and parking aways away from his house. It's just rude. Our street is narrow and with four cars space is limited. Since the street is narrow there should be more etiquette to park in their driveway or garage.

It’s bc they don’t want anything in front of their house or driveway. Simple as that. They don’t care about other peoples feelings or thoughts.

Sounds like there are a couple/few nice parking spots in front of his house that you and maybe some of your neighbors should start using.

I live in a neighborhood where 3-4 houses are undergoing major renovations at any time. I have 2 theories:

1. During construction, you get in the habit of leaving your house / driveway open for trucks and contractors.
2. Once the project seems to be complete, it seems like people are still coming by weekly for an extended period of time - wall paper, paint, minor adjustments to trim, etc. They may also leave a spot open for those people.

We had a neighbor who did this but instead of parking on the public street they parked all four wheels in our grass for a month, sometimes two cars. So we asked them to stop and they did.

You’re not listening. It’s a public street. You can’t “tell“ them to move, and they are not “encroaching.“

Public street boo. Take your car and park in front if theirs

My next door neighbors’ adult son lives with them. If he parks on the street, it is always in front of my house, never in front of theirs. I don’t care because I’m not parking on the street, but I have wondered why he wouldn’t want to park in front of his own house. Most people do that if they can. I assume he has some reason, though it’s not obvious to me.

Park in front of his house. Problem solved. He'll get the point soon enough.
