Do you want beach/Mayan ruins or city/colonial town?
If you want beach then I would stick with somewhere on the gulf coast/riviera maya. The pacific coast is much less convenient to get to from this area. |

We just came back from Cabo. Loved it! Food was amazing. Swam with whale sharks and released baby sea turtles. Glorious sunsets.
Downside: no direct flights, no Mayan ruins. |
