Saw the Emory post re NCS data for WashU and Emory.

Would love to crowdsource.
Can you show your schools avg data for these (or other similar) schools?
Public/private and region if not local?

NCS Soir data for past 3 admissions cycles:

Emory 3.87+
Wash U 3.97+

All others waitlisted or rejected. So these are really only options for the top 5-10% of the class.

NCS (lowest GPAs in the past 3 cycles).
Northwestern 3.91
Vanderbilt 3.9
Rice 4.0 (yes, 4.0--so not a single A minus).

Basically, if your kid is not in the top 5 girls in their class at NCS--these are probably off the table.

A 3.87 is right between.
4.0 is an A, 3.7 is an A-

That was for Emory but Wash U was actually about the same.

Other posters have said not a single girl can get all As at NCS as it really grade deflates. But you are saying some do. Cant follow the NCS posting crowd.

The valedictorian alway has a 3.97-4.0. Some years it's a 3.97ish. Some years a girl manages to get a 4.0.
What the SCOIR data shows is that these girls (the 3.95+) are the only ones getting in unhooked to places like Rice, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Wash U. it's a few girls at the very top who get all these acceptances each year. Contrary to DCUM posters' belief or what the school wants parents in younger years to think--you're not getting into any of them with anything less than straight As with a few A minuses.

NP and not affiliated with NCS but it seems that only the top 5% of the class or the top 5 girls by GPA in the class are getting admitted, so by that token 95% of the class is not getting A’s.

My question to NCS parents is why has the school not changed course at this point with grading and how is it possible that kids from a school like NCS need a 3.91 to get into Vanderbuilt?
