Arlington subdivided narrow house endless for sale

Anonymous
This house has been listed for over a year, with its ridiculous high listing price of $2+ M.

It’s a subdivided lot, the lot is only 6000 sq ft, and is a crazy narrow house, about the width of a modern townhouse.

It’s on a busy double line arterial road, and down hill from two gas stations 300 ft away or so.

It is a nice neighborhood, with good elementary and middle schools, right across from library (though is that good these days with homeless traffic?) and Cherrydale shopping.

What is their endgame? Will this eyesore ever become someone’s home?

I hope it’s a warning to missing middle developers to not overextend

Interesting! .14 acres, almost 6,000 square feet, 2,000 below grade.

I can't tell how nice the finishes are to comment on the price, but the busy road, tiny lot and certainty of very close neighbors should bring that down a bit.

On the flip side, it's appealing to have that space and NOT share walls like in a TH.

So I guess I don't object to the building and what the developers did, but do think some of those decisions need to impact price.

Thank you. That is so effin funny.

Classic Cottages does the same thing:

Ugly no matter who does it, but unfortunately there seems to be an endless number of hideous new builds in Arlington.

This is one of the worst new builds I've seen. No wonder the first picture is interior. The front of the house is abysmal. There is absolutely nothing redeeming about this house.

No garage and you have to back out onto Military Road.
Nice wall of windows. Which will eventually look directly into your neighbor's house
House looks like it was built out of legos.
Nice view of Military Road from your master patio.

But hey, you get a built in doggy bath.

Someone was smoking something when they came up with this idea.

That's still really ugly but it fits into that neighborhood better. Most of the lots there are deep and narrow there so there are many houses like that surrounding this one.

For $2.3 million, you can have space, no shared walls, and a bigger lot not on a major road. There is a reason this has been on the market for 400 days

I had past by that house and yeah my god it's ugly and just odd shaped (and I tend to like the modern look).

The whole missing middle thing is a "scam", the idiots who voted for it completely did not realize the ramifications of what they were voting for. It won't create more affordable housing, it will lead to stuff more like this (expensive th/sfh on tiny lots)

It's actually really well done for what it is, but I wouldn't pay that much for it, LOL

That would be a great house for a couple where both people work from home -- either DINKs or a couple with one child.

Haha, I drive by this house all the time, and it’s so ridiculous looking in real life. Why would anyone pay 2.3 when you only get a tiny parking pad on a busy road? You can get a regular new build for that price.

The sign that’s up says “the contemporaries of Cherrydale” which suggests that there will be another one built on the vacant strip next to it. I’m guessing the investors need the first to sell in order to finance the second. So if you buy this house you will get the added benefit of living next door to a construction site for another shiny house mere inches from yours.

How these ever got a permit to be built is beyond me.

That is NOT 6000 sq ft. The ORIGINAL lot was 6000, but they subdivided but Redfin didn’t get the update.

It’s a 3000 sq ft lot on a busy road.

For $2M dollars.

Since when is $2.3M missing middle??

Looks like the lot floods too.
