| I just learned one of our neighbors lost his wife. I am not a good cook but would like to drop of a few premade meals periodically. He is in his early 70s and no one else in the house. |
| Is he jewish? Matzo ball soup - send him a few quarts from a kosher or kosher-style deli. Is he a regular person? Rotisserie chicken. |
| I take a large serving (lasts my elderly friend 2 days) of whatever I'm making for my family. Meatloaf and mashed potatoes, spaghetti and meatballs, Salmon rice bowl, etc. my friend seems to enjoy reheating this versus a large lasagna or something. |
Jews ARE regular people, jerk-weed. |
No we're not, we're the chosen people.
|
Yikes |
| Soup, and fruit (what my mom ate when widowed suddenly). |
WTF |
That made me chuckle. Op, that is really kind of you. Some thing that is in smaller portions or can be portioned out and frozen would be very helpful. |
| I would invite him to eat with you once in a while if you think he might not have many connections. |
+1 It’s really hard to wrangle gigantic frozen tins of casserole, lasagna etc, so those just kind of stay in the freezer, and you feel guilty for being ungrateful every time you see it, until you stop seeing it and it just continues to stay in the freezer. Even the ones that are not pre-frozen…don’t give the recipient that extra work of possibly having to buy freezer-safe containers in order to separate things out into freezer-safe containers they may not already have. That’s a lot of bandwidth they don’t have right now. |
Given that ~two percent of Americans are Jewish, absent any other identifying information the overwhelming odds are that he is not, so you come across as both stupid and racist. |
This is a fabulous idea! You are a sweet friend. |
NP. I love this idea. Bless you for your kind heart. |

Another option is Doordash, Uber Eats or Grubhub gift cards. He can order from anywhere and use the giftcard to pay.
So, doesn't even have to deal with storing, reheating and whether the food goes bad or not. |
