Adult daughter looking to go on a short trip with mother in her 70s (active/healthy). Would like short nonstop flight (so sticking to east coast), probably in the spring. Mostly just want to walk around, look at pretty scenery, eat good food, etc. Both already been to Charleston, Savannah, NYC, Boston.
Thinking Portland, ME or maybe Greenville, SC? Would love opinions on those, or suggestions for other places. |
| Asheville NC |
| Asheville |
| Memphis gets a lot of hate, but my mom and I went last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. Good food, music, all the music museums, civil rights museum... Just a long weekend was enough. |
| Montreal |
| I'd do Newport RI over Portland ME |
| Orlando/ft Lauderdale |
| Charleston, South Carolina? |

Definitely Asheville over Greenville. You can fly into Greenville usually for cheaper and it’s not a long drive. GSP is a nice airport.
Portland ME in early Spring sounds awful to me. Maybe Savannah? It depends on what you like to do and the budget I guess. If the budget allows it go to Canyon Ranch in Arizona. It’s not that much more flight time and it’s fun and relaxing. |
Can you share why? |
| Asheville |
| New Orleans or Asheville |
| A friend and I did a weekend in Greenville SC and had a lovely time. I'd definitely consider it. |

I like the Asheville idea, it was on my mind but had been thinking it was a PITA to get to, turns out there's a nonstop flight into Asheville. But, my mom has been. Alas...
Appreciate the suggestions so far, will keeping thinking about those and others! |
| Montreal was fun for my mom and I to visit. Lots of food, easy to get around |
