ALL colleges are party schools

Quit saying one college is a big party school over another one.

ALL COLLEGES ARE PARTY SCHOOLS! Yes even MIT.

Some worse than others. IYKYK. Go ahead and look for your "rankings" - we will wait.

Yes, but some are definitely more so. Similarly, you can find drugs at all colleges. They’re more prevalent at some than others.

Of course there is partying at all schools - with drugs and with alcohol but there is absolutely a difference between the underlying cultures at different schools. The culture aspect is what helps create the party school label.

Some degree of fun = student wants to stay enrolled.

Just another response about something well-known. Like all things in life - it's about the level of something not the absolute of Yes party school/No party school.

Seems to me that the schools in a boring location are the big party schools, if the school is in an interesting urban area there is more to do so less resort to just drinking for fun.

Not like back in the day. Kids today couldn't keep up with us.

Do you always think in binary terms? Of course, parties can be found at all colleges, thanks for the newsflash. Do some schools have a school that parties way more than others? Uh, yeah. Tulane parties are going to be way better than MIT.

I think there is a lot of truth to this. Maybe it's just the case that in an urban area there are more places to get drunk so there's less appearance that the whole town is partying.

Also, based on my own experience, party schools tend to have known, organized sources of heavy partying that people can head for (often Greek life) and there is a lot of alcohol-related vandalism.

Excess drinking and universities have been entwined since the origins of the Western university. Last year I learned that Cambridge got started because of some fatal town vs. gown drinking-related incidents in Oxford. What's different about American party schools is the connection to team sport results. That makes party schools less fun for people who don't enjoy sports or getting plastered.

Johns Hopkins sure ain’t.

They have surveys studies - 70% did not engage in an episode of binge drinking per month. 80% did not smoke weed do drugs in a month.

Yes- if you are a partner you could find a few like souls, but the vast majority of students there don’t.

Big state universities with big football cultures are huge for partying.

I think the point is that if your kid is not a partier they can still have a great experience at a “party” school. Party culture exists everywhere so let’s stop labeling schools this way.
