"Students who are removed from school by their parent/guardian for
more than 15 consecutive school days for extended travel or other unexcused reason are to be withdrawn, and the parent/guardian must be informed that the student will be withdrawn and that MCPS assumes that they will fulfill their responsibility to continue the student’s education at the destination." https://www2.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/siteassets/schools/elementary-schools/a-c/burtonsvillees/jeara.pdf |

Attendance counts for nothing in MCPS.
Haven’t you figured that out yet? |
This...there is no enforcement of any policy. |
|
I think attendance only really counts in messy custody battles. If you are the current custodial parent and the kid has lots of unexcused absences - that can be held against you.
|
Except when there is but don't pay attention to that since it contradicts my narrative. |
| We were told we needed a doctor’s note on consecutive day 4 of absence. |
Same |
I was told that but I never gave a note and they didn't care. |
That's because your mileage may vary within MCPS based on how much your admin cares about attendance and chronic absenteeism, and/or based on how active and competent your school's attendance secretary is. |
What exactly would happen if you didn’t give the note? Nothing! |
And it really depends what color you are...for equity. |
| I doubt there is a maximum. I had a student who missed more than 100 days of school and still passed. I regularly have kids miss 50+ days each year and pass. All unexcused absences. |
Unexcused absences mean a kid can’t make up the with for full credit. Matters in high school, at least. |
Really? We were told a parent can excuse 4 days. The fifth day needs a note from a medical provider. |
