I love the idea, but I'm seriously fat. Will I be laughed out of the place? |
Of course not. My PB has all sizes. |
Oh gosh no! I go to Barre3, never ever would this happen. |
No. But it won’t really do much in terms of losing weight if that’s what you’re looking for. It’s not that kind of workout. |
Has anyone been to the one in Dupont? Looks like I can get a good deal with my insurance, but I’ve never been.
How does pure barre compare to B3? |
+1 What I did not like is that the studio is too small and dark, and the teachers are not helpful. People think they "own" a space. |
Everyone should know by now that weight loss is 90% what goes in the gob. That said, exercise is great for mental health which supports healthy habits overall including how much goes in the gob. Further ballet type exercises and stretches build muscle strength and especially core strength and balance which will both drive metabolism and increase insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism, and also set you up for fitness in middle and elder age. You can’t go wrong with barre training for fitness and strength. When I studied ballet I was very fit and strong. Like all exercise, you can’t outrun a poor relationship with food. |
I've done both. Personally I prefer B3, by a long mile. The "3" stands for pilates/barre/yoga - it combines all 3. The instructors are well trained and offer a lot of accommodations or adjustments depending on your fitness level and abilities. The Pure Barre I went to employed instructors who were quite literally phoning it in. They were not enthusiastic at all. Just wasn't the right place, for me. |
You won't be laughed out of the place but be warned- it can be very challenging, especially pure barre. Give yourself some grace |
+1. I’m 52. Yes, i’m usually one of the oldest in my barre classes but always feel welcomed and not judged. All different shapes and sizes. I go to Cathedral Commons location. |
I love my pure barre and they are very welcoming |
