Does your teen have access to Narcan and know how to use it?

With all of the recent teen overdoses in Sterling and Arlington, I’m thinking it is vital for kids outside of school especially to know how to use Narcan to save a friend’s life.

Have you picked up Narcan for your home or taught your teen how to use it?

Again?

It’s a perfectly good question and I don’t see any reason why it should be limited to a single thread (or even five or ten over time). Have you seen the overdose rates lately?!

I started one of the prior threads. At the time I didn't know there were others.

We ended up getting the free Narcan from DC. I reviewed it's use with my kids and it's now in a drawer in my kitchen. I'm not sure how it will actually come in happy as I never host parties... it would be best if my kids could keep it in the car glove box but it's not great in extreme cold or hot temperatures. They don't carry bags with them into parties, etc.

So we have it but I'm not sure what good it will serve.

It's crazy how prevalent fentanyl deaths have become.

DC Carrie’s it in backpack and learned how to use it through an (MCPS) training last year. Better safe than sorry.

What happens if you use it and the person passed out from just alcohol?

I know nothing about Narcan, but recently saw this video on Youtube about reactions some people have afterwards. The Youtube channel is actually a comedy channel by an EMT/firefighter based on his experiences. While I assume he may generally take some creative liberties in making his videos, based on the comments on this video, it appears the basic reactions portrayed are fairly representative.

nothing. which is the beauty of it. It's harmless if given in error.

My teen doesn't have it, but I wish more did.

In MD, are teens allowed to carry it in school, like an Epipen?
