It only happens when someone is SUCH a predator that they assault SO many women that it can't be explained away (weinstein/cosby). And even then they end up getting out of jail!

Prediction: this turns into a 150 page thread talking about what a see you next tuesday you all think she is. Just like all the other multi hundred long page threads in this forum. There isn't one about a man though! It's ALWAYS about the woman. Examine your ingrained misogyny people.

Second prediction: I get a bunch of people replying to me yelling about Blake being awful and Baldoni being her victim and I just blindly take the woman's side.

I'll just get in front of all of those and tell you what I would say in response. These situations are almost always complex with different levels of power at play (in this case, while Lively and Reynolds have significantly higher household name recognition, Baldoni has extremely powerful industry connections, so is not the david to their goliath). And I believe that almost every celebrity is somewhat egotistical/narcissistic almost by the nature of the gig. Therefore it is my belief that there is almost NEVER a party completely innocent here. There is always blame to be found on both sides because it is almost always giant egos fighting with each other. But here, there is never nuance, it is always the woman sucks and the poor man we had a crush on 10 years ago because he was hot in that movie that one time is innocent.

I wrote this on page 14 a few days ago. All the way up to 75 page long thread now huh? Prophecy coming true!

DP, but that was one of my favorite posts in this thread tbh. I reposted it a few days later. I totally agree with you, and your predictions seem to be on target.

If this were the consensus of the legal community, it wouldn't be restricted to a thread on DCUM -- it would be widely reported in the news. I have never seen a legal commentator claim Lively has no claim here. The consensus seems to be that it's impossible to know how viable either party's claims are until there is discovery.

But who needs discovery when you can sit around talking about how Blake Lively is dumb and ugly and must be a liar because the lawyer who represents the guy she's suing said so.

SOMEBODY was going to be down there acting out the birth scene.

Being told that someone is bringing in their friend to film with you while half nude with a day's notice is something that would bother me. Somebody was going to be down there, but professionalism means distance, and the friend of the guy you are feeling harassed by doesn't infer distance.

It's not just one poster! You guys are so crazy hahaha. I am the 'i posted on page 14 that this was going to turn into a hundred page sh*tshow trashing the woman with no hint of evenhandedness.'

Never said I was a lawyer. Am not a lawyer. Not even a Blake Lively fan. I AM a feminist who is sick of seeing women torn apart in the news to protect the feelings of a wittle white man though.

Ooh, do not go there. I am a feminist and I am entirely convinced 1) Miss Plantation is absolutely not and 2) she's doing terrible harm to the battles over issues like sexual harassment that have been fought and won by throwing out trash allegations based on her warped perception of reality and overinflated ego.

I'm not implying you are actual bots. I am implying you are mindless sycophants entranced by his handsome looks and allyship cosplay into losing respect for yourselves and loyalty to your fellow women. Just to clear up that misconception.

He's a professional actor, stop acting like this is some rando pulled from the street.

And here she is scheming to steal movies, credits, and future projects. Delusions of grandeur to put it mildly. These dummies surround themselves with sycophants and don't understand the real world. They think they can bully and browbeat the masses into loving them.

Tell me you've never been to LA without saying you've never been to LA

Which celebrity on Blake and Ryan's level is as dumb as she is? She is transparently stupid.

I don’t know is stupid or not but I can’t believe she never read the book here yet was allowed to effectively dictate the Final Cut fo the film. No wonder it’s so bad.

Is this actually true, was she really class president? I assumed she dropped out of high school for Gossip Girl.

"She is a 2005 graduate of Burbank High School, where she was a cheerleader, a member of the championship choir, and class president."

Also adding on to this that *I* am actually a lawyer, and have said so in the thread, if that helps show Baldoni supporters that there are multiple people in here who disagree with them. :p

Ok sure <insert jlaw gif>

Now tell me how you feel about Amber Heard, Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears (how you felt circa 2008 lets say), Jessica Simpson, Christina Aguilera (also aughts on her), Taylor Swift, Hilaria Baldwin, Megan Markle, Janet Jackson, Ellen, Rosie O'Donnell, Hailey Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande and Beyonce. Oh or how about Jen Hatmaker or Danni Starr for more hyper local examples.

Do you have nuanced opinions on all those women? I have different opinions on all of them based on the individual circumstances that surrounded their unique situations. Do you? Or do you kind of hate all/most of them? I thought so.

Anonymous wrote:What was her actual request? I've read mixed reports on this thread and elsewhere.

Was it "I don't want to be deposed by Freedman at this time" or "I don't want to be deposed by Freedman ever"?

Both. The judge agreed to the first but not the second.

Not a win for her in the slightest.

I know it's very important for you to believe that.

DP. Lol how is this a win for her? her motions were denied.

Her protective order was denied. Baldoni's request to have Lively deposed immediately was denied.

Even though her protective order was denied, the judge invoked the ethics rules on extrajudicial statements and threatened to move up the date of the trial if the lawyers attempt to try it in the press.

Notice that Freedman has been very quiet since the hearing yesterday. I don't think I even saw a statement from him after the hearing. If he made one, he didn't say anything of note. Lively's lawyers have successfully gotten him to quiet down.

Stop lying. He talked to the press on the court house steps about how happy he was with how the hearing went.

After the hearing, Freedman told an array of cameras outside the courthouse that he was pleased with the outcome.

“Our clients are devastated and want to move the case along as quickly as possible,” he said. “We just couldn’t be more pleased with how the case was handled today, how it was managed. We’re going to move as quickly as we possibly can and prove our innocence, in a world where sometimes people judge you before they give you a chance. And we’re going to change that.”

That's a very toned down statement when you look at the stuff he was saying just last week in the press. Not a single comment about Lively herself, for instance.

My thought is this: Baldoni will win. No matter what front BL and RR are putting on, they don’t stand a chance for SH. The facts don’t fit the narrative that she’s painted.

Glad the judge said ‘proceed’ with media but time it down. He’s allowing both sides to continue as is, but to keep ot more respectful. So Freedman can continue, but more respectfully.

He didn’t ban the website nor issue a gag order. Win for Baldoni.

I guess we'll have to see what happens with summary judgment motions, which won't be for months and months. If Baldoni's defense to the SH claims is as strong as you predict, then presumably he'll win a MSJ against all or most of her claims.

It might not get that far, will probably depend on how discovery goes. I think discovery is going to be very deposition heavy and much will depend on what witness say to corroborate either narrative. I'm not talking bout the high profile witnesses like Reynolds or Swift, but people like the makeup artists, assistants, lesser known cast and crew who actually witnessed what went on during the filming. Also other Wayfarer producers and employees who are on a lot of these texts and emails but haven't been identified yet. I think we really do not have all the facts yet, even with the big info dump from Baldoni last week.

I agree with this. Baldoni's narrative is compelling, but what about all the people who supported Lively's snubbing of Baldoni? Why did they do that? We can only guess, as we haven't heard from a single one of them.

His last on air acting credit was on a procedural drama I've never even heard of in 2016.

You're completely off and I do have different opinions on all of them, mostly ok so your thoughts are dead wrong. Several I would defend vociferously like you do Blake.

I'm not the person you asked, but the only person on that list I "don't like" is Ariana Grande, and that's because she licked a bunch of donuts. But if I met her I might feel differently. And certainly I wouldn't use the donut-licking incident to say she couldn't be the victim of SH. I'm not even sure what you're going for with this list? You could certainly start a "hate" thread of any given celebrity and get takers. Because there are over 8 billion people on Earth.

I agree with PP. Of course people cast friends in small roles, that's common. But it's weird that when Baldoni was looking for a role to give his pal, in a movie filled with small parts in restaurants and bars and shops, he decided to give him the role of "doctor who squats between Lily's legs." That would be kind of a sensitive role. I wouldn't give it to a close friend, it's weird.
