I agree with this. Every media source with the story about the dead hostages but this one is nowhere to be found (nor any reports of Hamas continuing to fire rockets). Hamas has historically broken every ceasefire. What do you want Israel to do - just go home and let Hamas keep the hostages and keep attacking?

Every media source that ran with the story of how IDF targeted and bombed a hospital killing 500 (virtually every part of which turned out to be wrong) should be running stories like this one about a Hamas rocket hitting that Ramallah hospital to put better balance into their reporting and to make up for their prior skewed and incorrect report. But will they? No.

And as usual the Gaza health ministry will again falsely claim it was an IDF bomb and will inflate the casualty county by 20x.

No Israel did target the hospital and kill 500 people. Israel used a Thermobaric weapon which only Israel has. These weapons do not leave craters or weapon debris. Biden ordered US intelligence to issue what the Israel said- a Hamas rocket missed fired which would have left a crater and clearly identifiable debris. The US has admitted it has no intelligence source in Gaza and is totally dependent on what the Israelis provide.

Stop binging up events that have been settled. All the hospitals bombardments are Israel. It is part of their terror campaign against the civilians. The Israelis with full support of the US has systematically destroyed Gaza civilians infrastructure to terrorize the civilians and create conditions favorably to spread disease. There is a lot of talk that Israel is releasing biologically weapons in the refugee camps.

There is also talk that the Earth is actually a cube and we have been lied to by the Jewish controlled media.

Wow what weak response. If you can not argue with facts fall back on the old tried and true everyone is antisemitic. Oh everyone hates the Israelis because they are Jewish! Do not look at the 20,000 helpless civilians they just killed. This is get pretty close to Babi Yar in scale.

i know the situation is difficult but i wonder how this is linked to the trigger happy tendency of the IDF, see the Israeli civilian who faced the attackers in Jerusalem only to be shot dead by Israeli police while on the ground with her hands up pleading for his life and not being a threat. outrage only because he was a Israeli hero and everything was caught on camera, if he was an arab and no cameras were around then who cares

Is this true? Or misinformation? Did IDF actually kill three hostages?

Yes, unfortunately. Three men that had managed to escape.

I don't how those IDF soldiers live with themselves. Gun trigger idiots. They and their entire command structure need to be removed. It's so sad.

You have no clue what these soldiers are facing in war. Just a couple days earlier, 10 IDF soldiers were killed in this area when they were ambushed. These soldiers are dealing with an enemy that is not moral, does not abide by rules of war, and has no problem pulling tricks to ambush and murder the enemy.
I am terribly saddened for the hostages killed and their families.
I am also saddened for the IDF soldier(s) who made this tragic mistake. He/she will have to live with that the remainder of his/her life.

Seeing as IDF soldiers are never held accountable for what they shoot, he or she will be just fine. Maybe they will stop feeling so threatened by white flags but I’m not really optimistic.

Well, I believe that Israel has now killed more hostages than they have rescued.

So they need to concede that their approach (which kills far more women and children than the enemy) is not working. Full stop.

Violence is not a longterm solution to stop violence.

Women seem to get that long before men lay down their bombs and guns.

They are just standing off and blowing everything up. Look at the amount and type of munitions used. They are not a disciplined fighting force but a mob killing any civilian that moves. The goal is to terrorize the civilian population. Hope you are proud of Israel.

There is serious concern about the IDF ability to fight as shown by their inability to locate and engage Hamas. All indications are the IDF will attack Hezbollah next. I do not think they have the capability to fight Hezbollah and Biden will commit US ground troops.

This is untrue. If they were "just standing off and just blowing everything up" the IDF death toll would be zero and the Gazan death toll would be orders of magnitude higher than it is. You do not know what you are talking about, and are spreading nonsense.

It is you have no clue about what you are talking about. Just stop with your pathetic pro death squad propaganda. The majority of Israeli casualties have been friendly fire. If they were actually going house to house against Hamas the IDF casualties numbers would be in the thousands not 116. You have absolutely not credibility.

Or the government in Israel would rather see these hostages(from liberal areas) dead. It is better to have dead martyrs for the state of Israel vs “leftist” who opposes settlements and want a two state solution. The government’s actions speak for themselves.

From what I understand, the hostages were sent out in the midst of an active firefight in one of the currently heaviest combat areas.

Well that is not what the IDF said yesterday. Also there are not firefights in Gaza because Hamas is not standing and fighting. The Israelis just bomb everything and pick through the rumble. Any civilians approaching an IDF unit is shot on sight.

Yes, there are firefights. IDF is constantly being shot at with RPGs and AK-47s and Hamas snipers. And no, "any civilian approaching an IDF unit" is NOT "shot on sight." That is not the protocol. You totally do not know what you are talking about on any of this. Whatsoever.

But then why did they shoot these hostages? They did nothing threatening.

I dont have a clue about war- I do know this, and every soldier worth the name knows this as well- the life of a soldier is the cheapest life, its their purpose to kill and die so that others may live- within a war setting some lives are more precious than others and the hostages lives are the most precious, even more than children to both sides- the Palestinians seem willing to die and not report where the hostages are and the Israelis obviously should privilege hostages lives over the lives of others. The soldiers lives are the cheapest- they arent there to live/survive- they are there to get the hostages and kill Hamas,if they die in the process, well that is war, the only expendable life in the war are the lives of combatants, soldiers of both sides should die before civilians die- this is something humanity decided after the last world war and Israel agreed too. if they saw 3 men with white flag- they should have approached while training their weapons and risked death themselves instead of destroying teh lives of those families who were holding on to hope and killing those brave kidnapped men who had teh courage to escape into a warzone and the naivety to trust Netanyahu's cowardly goons.

According to the IDF, the soldiers who killed the hostages did not follow protocol.

https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2023-12-16/ty-article/.premium/preliminary-idf-report-hostages-killed-by-soldiers-waved-white-flag-yelled-help-hebrew/0000018c-7283-db38-a9fc-fba363100000

A preliminary IDF investigation of Friday's incident, in which three Israeli hostages who managed to escape Hamas captivity in Gaza were mistakenly identified as enemy and shot dead by the soldiers, concludes that they were killed because the troops did not follow the army's rules of engagement.

According to the investigation, a soldier who was stationed on one of the upper floors of a building in the area has identified three figures who held a long stick that had a white fabric attached to it. The report states that, for some reason, the soldier felt threatened and opened fire at the group.

Two hostages were hit and fell to the ground, and the third managed to escape into a nearby building. At the same time, the soldier reported to his commanding officer that he had encountered enemy militants.

The commander then arrived at the scene, while another IDF squad that was nearby followed the third hostage, who managed to escape into a hiding place inside the building. The report says that as the soldiers approached the building, they began to hear shouts in Hebrew, asking for their help.

The Israeli hostage who was hiding inside the building came out and ran inside again. According to the soldiers, they believed that it was a Hamas member who was trying to "pull them" into a trap. They proceeded to enter the building, where they killed the hostage.

When the soldiers retrieved the three bodies, they noticed identifying marks that raised their suspicions that they were indeed Israeli hostages who managed to escape.

I think the best thing you can say is that these soldiers are probably so turned around and stressed by not being able to tell Hamas from ordinary Gazans - because Hamaz hides and disguises itself among ordinary Gazans - that they made a tragic mistake that you can understand, if you put yourself in this situation. This is not to excuse, or diminish. But imagine how bad things must be there, to make this kind of horrible mistake.

This is me, pollyanna - but I hope that this tragic event will turn enough Israelis against the war as it is being pursued, that the government will be forced back into real negotiations. Of course that then raises the question again of who they would even negotiate with - and if there is ANY party competent to carry on negotiations that can also be trusted. I don't know. But it does seem like a lot of people in Israel - not to mention outside of Israel - don't want things to keep going as they are.

I am one of the zionists who keeps getting screeched at here. I believe Israel has a right to defend itself. I also don't see how this can keep going, as it is. I take my lead from the leftie Israelis - the kinds of people who lived at the kibbutzes that Hamas came to slaughter.

We are only hearing about this failure of protocol because the dead are Israeli hostages. I think it’s fair to assume that there are lots and lots of failures of protocol that lead to shooting innocents. That the pro Israeli brigade assumes are Hamas or combatants. It’s pretty clear these soldiers have no clue and are on a hair trigger. Israel needs to stop. Their intelligence is suspect. Their troops are not well trained. They can’t remember their humanity. In these circumstances, they should not be trusted with weapons.
