First, I used Clinique. I can't quite recall why I stopped - it was pre-pandemic. Maybe I thought I outgrew Clinique since I'm 46? Then I got Supergoop sunscreen but it has a tint that isn't a good look on my skin color (pale white plus a lot of acne scarring plus rosacea - just trust me). Then I tried the Supergoop roll on sunscreen thinking this would be great! It turned out it was super oily. Apparently others have also found it to be oily.
Now I'm on Ahava "Protecting Moisturizing Lotion SPF 50" which I thought would be awesome because moisturizer and SPF in one! But it's glass. I need some other kind of sunscreen I can toss in my purse for touch ups when I've been outside for more than 90 minutes without it being so heavy or worrying it'll break. Can you give me suggestions? I want at least SPF 45. I burn pretty easily. |

I use and like Obagi Sun Shield Matte Broad Spectrum SPF 50. I have combination skin. I don't wear makeup everyday, but it doesn't feel greasy and looks good with makeup.
My teen DD likes Black Girl Sunscreen Make It Matte SPF 45. She has oily acne prone skin. She tried many other brands, but they all stayed white and didn't blend into her skin well. She doesn't wear makeup. |
OP here. I don't ever wear makeup. Does your Obagi come out clear or white? |
| Biore UV Watery Essence is great. Coola makeup setting spray with SPF for touchups. |
| I have been using Elta at the suggestion of my derm (I also have acne scaring plus rosacea). I am white moderately pale out side of the above. |
| Elat MD is my favorite |
| Spell check ugh, Elta like PP mentioned. |
| My skin is like yours, OP. I don’t like to rely on the moisturizer that has SPF because I pit that on at 5am when going to work. So when I go outside at lunchtime, errands, a walk I apply Neutrogena Invisible Daily 60+ . It’s light , not oily and doesn’t pill. |
| I use la roche posay daily moisturizer. |

Elta MD would be good for your skin conditions. There are several varieties, look for the one made for acne and roseacea prone skin.
I love Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen. It is very matte not greasy/oily and is clear so no white tint. I find it improves the appearance of the texture of my skin. |
Elta MD UV Clear is what you want. Plastic bottle, blends in clear and good for acne-prone skin. |

I am a very pale, white redhead with freckles, eczema, and what seems like nonstop contact dermatitis.
What works best for me is the Trader Joe’s Supergoop dupe. It is clear. Doesn’t run down my face in white streaks when I sweat. Doesn’t irritate my skin or clog my pores. Also doesn’t make me oily. I love it. |

43, pale complexion, dry/thin/fragile skin.
I'm using one of two products this year, both clean, non-toxic from Credo.com: 1. SPF 60, purse-friendly plastic tube of KINSHIP Self Reflect Sport:triple ceramide, moisturizing sunscreen, zinc oxide, broad spectrum, sweat and water resistant. Like most sunscreens, I don't like the sticky feel of it on my skin, but otherwise I believe it's of high quality. 2. SPF 30, small glass bottle (but quite sturdy, I carry it in my purse) of MARA Sea Kale Sunscreen Serum, algae + zinc broad spectrum. This is an unusually liquid sunscreen, which gets absorbed easily and doesn't leave a sticky residue. I like that, but since it's the only sunscreen I've tried that has ever had such a light texture... sometimes I wonder if it works! I haven't tanned or sunburned with this, of course, but skin damage can occur even without these symptoms. Make of that what you will. |
