Travel Anxiety

Anonymous
Just here to see if I’m the only one who has serious travel anxiety?

I haven’t traveled in almost 6 years due to health issues and then the pandemic. I am currently on vacation right now (that I tried to sabotage and cancel the day before I left) and am having so much anxiety about everything. I find it almost impossible to relax.

The anxiety is about everything, $ of everything, eating too much, eating unhealthy, anxiety about my anxiety, anxiety about not feeling relaxed enough. Honestly it feels like I have no idea how to go on a vacation.

Does anyone else experience this?

Are you by the water?
Sit by it with a cup of coffee and just look into the sea-the horizons… blank out on everything else.

No, sorry. I do have anxiety in daily life so I feel for you, but vacationing actually helps it for me. I do stress leading up to the trip.

I can relate about the eating part. Where are you, OP?

I have extreme anxiety and yup, I do everything you mentioned. My last vacation, I said f it and I promised myself not to complain and I did it! I realized how miserable it made me, my spouse and my kids. It did require a lot of planning ahead of time on my part though, so I did not have any surprises.

oh my in the Caribbean,
look out into the sea as far as you can see- and the shimmers and the sun
is it not peaceful?
I could stare at the water for hours and it calms me.
I am a very anxious person as well.

But are there people watching me watch the water?
Why did that person sit so close when there are a million chairs on the other side?
Why is that guy so loud on his cell phone
Am I gonna get bug bites?

I hope your family is not there with you or you'll ruin it for them. I feel sorry for your kids in more way than one.

Yes. My DH always says to me at some point on a trip "I don't know why you do this to yourself. We should just stay home." At a certain point, I might need to listen to him on that.

Blank yourself out and just concentrate on the water , the expanse , the horizon and breathe in / out.
Dont sit anywhere at first just walk to the where the water meets the sand and let the water wash your feet while you look t the horizon.
