Why is the OW less attractive?

It has been my experience from seeing friends and family members, that the “other woman” is less attractive than the man’s wife.

For example, my friend is tall, beautiful, accomplished, and her husband’s mistress is short, fat, and not as well educated. I saw it with my aunt and with my sister-in-law.

What gives? Why would a man go for something worse?

They always are. It’s not really about looks, just availability and willingness.

Because she's better in other areas, like more attentive, a better conversationalist, or better in bed.

Back when i was single, there were some women I dated who weren't super-attractive but were amazing in the sack. That can count for a lot.

Because the ugly woman will go to great lengths to make him feel validated.

Like a PP said, it's about availability and willingness. Gorgeous women are generally not available and willing to get the OW $h*tty-end-of-the-stick from a man. Unattractive women are willing to put up with a lot more BS because they are afraid they can't do better.

Because she'll put out. A married man is less attractive than the same single man. His resources are already supporting a family, so he isn't going to get someone as good as his wife.

If your wife is cold, indifferent, shrill, hectoring, and denying you sex then it doesn't matter how hot she is.

A woman who treats you with respect and admiration, and is very obviously hot for you, it matters a lot less if she's objectively less hot than the above type of wife.

A lot of vanity and self-centeredness with many attractive women that becomes evident after a period of time.

In my case it was these factors:

She came on strong to him at work and although he resisted for awhile eventually he gave in.

She shared his desires to drink and occasionally get high which I totally didn't although I didn't give him crap about it either.

I think he actually preferred someone who was kind of slutty which I was not.

It wasn't that she was more willing to have sex, we had sex at least 4-5 times a week, I was always willing and thought we had a great sex life.

She was definitely less attractive, I wish I could show you a picture, but at this point I'm like, whatever, who can explain these things.
