Actress Susan Sarandon has been slammed for claiming Jewish people 'are getting a taste of what it feels like to be Muslim' amid the war with Hamas.

The Oscar winner, 77, has attended several rallies in New York where she joined in the chant 'from the river to the sea,' a battle cry used by pro-Palestinian activists and Hamas alike that many view as an anti-Semitic call for the destruction of Israel.

In further shocking new remarks, Sarandon said at a recent rally: 'There are a lot of people afraid of being Jewish at this time, and are getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country.'

She joined the crowd in chanting “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” – which is largely regarded as an antisemitic slogan that implies the decimation of Israel – before addressing the group herself.

The group also denounced Mayor Eric Adams, Gov. Kathy Hochul, and demanded that President “Genocide Joe” Biden “has got to go” for several minutes.

This is where we’ve devolved to. Political tribalism led to binary racial and ethnic tribalism for everything. Now every issue seemingly must have a right side/wrong side good guy/bad guy. This preschool-esque approach to complex issues is not only ineffective but dangerous.

But dividing people—particularly with harsh rhetoric—never works.

Heck, the decades long Israeli/Palestinian conflict will never be resolved with division. Walls don’t work. Anyone who wants peace must do the hard work of reconciling the generational hate and fear and trying to find a mutual path forward.

I feel like she had words to say after she helped get Trump in office, but I have to be honest and say I tuned her out because I think they were more of the same, i.e. garbage about “burning it all down” in order to rebuild better. How can a person be nearly 80 and not understand that when things are burnt down, they’re not always better, and that’s if they get rebuilt at all. Meanwhile all the poor people have nowhere to live.

The people who let some wretched version of “perfect” be the opposite of the good are huge players in why the world sucks. We would have been universes better off after four years of Mrs. Clinton, institutions intact, coup never attempted, Supreme Court not fully overtaken by whackjobs, and probably no pandemic meaning no inflation. But people like Sarandon can never admit that.
