What schools in the DC area are there for children with severe mobility and cognitive impairments? Very low staff to student ratios.
Likely with children with severe CP, genetic conditions, blindness, etc where therapies are part of the mainstream curriculum and everyone has an IEP. |

Kennedy Krieger has a few school programs on different campuses:

| Check out St Coletta |
|
St. Coletta in DCPS, Longview or Stephen Knolls for MCPS.
|
| Can someone respond who has sent a child to one of these |
| My DC goes to Kennedy Krieger. What do you want to know? |
| op here: can anyone speak to their experience with st Coletta? |
Specifically looking for info regarding quality of staff, overall environment, etc |
Do you live in DC? Have you confirmed they have space in the appropriate age group? It may not even be worth considering. |
Not pp but it's really not your business whether they have space on the age group. People are allowed to do research. Also note - extreme space limitations for full support programs, as many have been complaining of in other threads |
| River Terrace |
Awful. Terrible. Avoid at all costs. |
|
KKI > St. Coletta > River Terrace
OP, the KKI campus at Powder Mill wasn't yet at capacity when we toured 1.5 years ago. Give it a try. |
Powder Mill Campus won’t take this profile. KKI LEAP program will. |
St Coletta’s administration has plummeted their therapy programs- 90% of experienced therapists left after last year. Previously great therapy team. Now in shambles. |
