I just realized that there were two fires today near us, and I’ve lived here for 30 years without one prior.
One was the Mormon church on Western past the old Mazza, and the other was (is currently?) a church on Tenley Circle. Related? |
| Bc both are churches? |
|
Had to reroute past western ave to get home. Saw smoke.
To PP yes two churches on fire before a major holiday (though it isn’t specifically religious, but who else do you thank) is sus |
| The fire in Tenley was across the street from the church. It was a dumpster fire that spread to the building on the end of the block. They put it out quickly. |
Correct. TY for dousing that rumor. |
Some was trying to give DC a scene fitting with poetic justice. |
There was a fire in Burleith last week. Without evidence, this seems like enough of an outlier statistically to believe it is not random. |
| I saw the one around Wisconsin Ave. What happened? The whole street was blocked off. |
Insurance fire? |
Wait, you think more than one fire in a city of over 700,000 people in a week is a statistical anomaly? |
It’’s one way to solve the challenge of a “historic” building impeding progress. |
| I actually attend the LDS church on Western that was destroyed by the fire on Monday. We are being told that although we won’t know an official cause for awhile, right now they are suspecting it was an electrical fire that started in the attic. |
That’s so sad! I hope you didn’t lose anything irreplaceable. |

Wow, look at this. A crime is committed. The councilmember brings attention to it. The police investigate and someone is arrested. If only we could get Frumin to care as much about violent crime as he apparently does about property crime. |
