| I know high school soccer is not considered quality soccer. But in this area, WCAC is the most competitive among soccer high schools. Is the soccer also bad there? I know quite a few ECNL and MLSNext kids play for their WCAC high schools so I assume they have some seasoned players already. |

Club is more important for college recruiting but WCAC is important to build lasting bonds and friendships.
Even for kids who are not club level soccer players freshman soccer is fun and great for making friends. |
AWFUL. Completely awful. You have a few larger HS, then very time ones. The tiny ones have kids that don’t even play soccer on the field. You are playing against hockey players and swimmers. There are only 2-3 semi competitive teams in WCAC and DC public combined so even the DC state championship is a complete joke. It’s the same 2-3 trans every year. The level of play is kickball. It’s painful to watch. Coaching is awful. Team selections are awful. A lot of the highest level players choose not to play, at least in the upper years. |
| ^then very tiny ones |
A lot of those mlsnext and ecnl boys only play club. If they do play, they usually stop by Junior year. And even for the ones that play hs, it’s not the sane level or style so a lot of times those boys don’t play. It’s mostly 2-3 team players. |

It is true some WCAC schools have terrible soccer but the good teams know tfat and coaches play 2nd string players.
But some teams are very good, still not as good as club, |
| Injury is a huge problem for kids trying to do both ecnl/mlsnext and HS, not to mention zero time for academics that first quarter. |
2nd string players are all that play WCAC. |
+1 Our team was curious. You had mlsnext and ecnl on the bench and 2nd and 3rd team players starting most games. |
This. |
Not true but you clearly have an ax to grind. It’s not as high as club but is an important part of building friendships. Get committed through club, enjoy soccer at WCAC. |
DP. My boys graduated, but in both their graduating years, the only classmates that got soccer scholarships did not play for the high school team. They might have Freshmen year- I’m not sure. I know they never played Varsity. |
| I find the state championship hilarious. In my state, we drive hours in playoffs and for state Finals. Teams we had never faced. To win a state championship in DC/WCAC it’s the same teams you just played last week. |
