Great wolf lodge in perrysville is for a potential place for my winter bday kid's celebration. It will be only four of us. My concern is I am concerned about the hotel indoor temperature when kids are in/out of water and water temperature at early December. I am a younger child does not do well when she feels chill and wet. Her body would shake and lips turn blue in summertime at 80 degree if she is wet & there is a breeze with no sun/cloudy outdoor. When she is wet, she has problem to regulate her temperature if she feels chill. She will get in water if she sees it. She is 3.
The birthday kid wants to do great wolf lodge at early December, but I am not sure. |
no idea about great wolf lodge but get your kid a wetsuit. its a 40-50 investment. also dont use rash guards, they are for SUN exposure not water play. |
| When DD was little, we’d go to Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg every year during the week between Christmas and New Year’s. It was warm inside the water park. We didn’t feel any chill, even when one day was like the coldest day of the decade or something outside. I suspect similar inside conditions exist in the new GWL. |
| We were just there. The waterpark is a balmy, humid 85 degrees. Temperature controlled to prevent just this issue. |
|
It’s normal for some kids to get a bit blue in their extremities when swimming. It would happen to me all the time but I grew out of it eventually in my teens.
I’m sure they heat it adequately but it still might happen. No reason not to take the birthday trip. Get the baby a wetsuit and everyone will have a blast. |
| We go every year for Christmas break with friends. Definitely comfortable and 80-85 degrees! Water is warm enough even for me to get in, and I HATE being cold. Once you're out of the pool area, though, the hotel can get a little chilly, so bring clothes/robe to wear over your bathing suit to walk back to your room. |
| Is regular girl one piece bathing suit not decided for indoor swimming ? |
| I just got back from there. The water in the pool area is warm and the pool area itself is pretty warm as well but there were some drafty areas near the wave pool and near the taller slides that you didn’t need a raft to ride. I think this is probably owing to their proximity to the doors that lead out into the lobby, it brings in more drafty lobby air conditioned air. But the water itself was nice. |
| I was cold out of the water but I get cold. Wetsuit is a good idea. |
What? |
| We went to the Williamsburg location and it was very warm. I wouldn't worry about rash guards but you could bring bathrobes or those terry cloth pool cover ups. Have a fun time. |
| They advertise 82 degrees year round. We went to the one in Williamsburg years ago during winter break and the temps were perfect. It's not just a hotel pool. It truly is an indoor water park with slides, splashpad, wave pool, etc. and the whole area was closed off from the rest of the hotel so there were no breezes. Just warm water and humidity. The kids had a blast, but the food they offered there was quite mediocre. |
Actually, they say it's 84 degrees year round. The place is quite warm and the water is warm as well. |
We ended up getting take out from other places because of that. In addition to the water park they have a bowling alley, arcade, this alternate reality game with magic wands and lots of fun activities like storytime and dance parties and crafts. It's a very fun place. Very family friendly |
| I’m here now and had to leave the water park yesterday afternoon after 10 mins. Too cold to wait in line for slides. Son was shivering and I was uncomfortable. I’m disappointed. |
