Looking for a nutritionist or weight loss program in MoCo. Went to a nutritionist at Rockville Internal Medicine and was underwhelmed. She didn't tell me anything I didn't know and didn't look to be in good shape. I need to lose about 50 pounds. |
You need to lose 50 pounds and you're going to comment on the appearance of a nutritionist? |
If I’m taking weight loss advice from someone, I want them to be in reasonably good shape. What’s wrong with that? |
+1. It's like going to a marriage counselor with a string of divorces. |
What exactly are you hoping to learn? Most stuff can be found through google these days. Do you need a meal plan? |
Having seen a dietician and successfully lost weight, it’s not as simple as learning new information. Our work together included a lot of support while I learned new eating behaviors. It’s not like she said “eat more salad” and I did. Our work spanned different life rhythms (holidays, family visits, etc.) and planning how to approach them. We spent time on hunger cues, the hunger scale, and satiety. I did *a lot* of work between sessions. Anyway, a year after our sessions ended I’m 30 pounds lighter. Even after our time together ended I continued losing weight because we worked on thoughts and behaviors as well as the food aspect. The tools are more than dietary changes. |
There probably isn’t anything you don’t know about how you should be eating. You just need to do it |

I'd also get a trainer. |
+1. I've worked with Jessica before. She's awesome! Set me up on the right path and helped me maintain the weight loss. |
Registered dietitian.. not nutritionist. |
