| A few nights ago I received a Zelle from someone I don’t know. Not a lot of money, just $15. The money has now cleared my account. Do I just keep it? I have no way (that I can tell) of figuring out what this person’s phone number is so I can send it back. |
|
Figuring out how to return $15 is a lot of headache. Just keep it.
|
| Just don’t engage with anyone who contacts you about it, there are scams like this. If you need to give the money back, deal only with Zelle customer service and no one else. |
| Not enough money for a scam, probably a mistake. Don’t do anything about it. |
| Contact zelle. It can reverse it. |
| I don't know about Zelle, but someone on Venmo sent the money back really fast with a note 'wrong person'. |
Likely a scam and they are fishing you |
Report it to zelle Can I get scammed if someone sends me money on Zelle? Because money transferred via Zelle® is hard to trace and nearly impossible to recover, scams using Zelle® are common. |
Do not engage. If you try to return the money, Zelle will double dip and steal it from you.

| Thanks, all. I am not going to do anything with it. If they want their money back they can deal with it through Zelle. I don’t have time to be contacting Zelle. They should incorporate the ability to turn down a payment in these apps. |
| Whoever sent it had to have your banking info. Account number and routing number. So unless you gave that person your personal info that transfer cannot happen. |
This isn't true. I had a family member send me $100 on my birthday. We have the same bank and she knows my name and address but doesn't know my account number. |
