Client:
1) Terrible response rate, can't get a response from them ever. 2) Despite several conversations on expectations, they wondered why on day 1 unrealistic expectation was not met. 3) After only 2 weeks from day 1 they are "looking" for a new contractor. Even worth trying to have this conversation? Or just someone that doesn't listen, isn't patient and words will be wasted on them? |
| Let them go. Did you set realistic expectations on Day one. It sounds like a communication issue with both parties. |
I'm very forthcoming with expectations - we've had many conversations over months about those expectations. They often haven't listened to the advice I've given (not related to expectations). But day 1 rolled around and the very first words out of their mouth indicated I needed to remind them of expectations, which I did twice. They've given feedback on work products that isn't constructive. E.g. not specific and when asked for specific feedback are unable to give it. I am frustrated because it's not just a lack of communication but it's also a total inability for them to communicate in an effective way. |
DP, OK but they're your client. Either drop them or deal with it. Maybe you are not communicating as clearly as you think you are, and maybe they are on autopilot or something, and keep asking the questions because they don't actually have feedback but think they're supposed to stay on top of you or something. You sound like you don't like or respect them and instead of working with them to improve by giving a clear instruction, you are frustrated and annoyed. |
