Any thoughts on ROSA Legends soccer academy

Anonymous
Hi,
My son will be trying out next week with one of their u10 soccer teams. I know very little about this small academy. Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences with this club?
Thanks!

What makes it an "academy" and not just another soccer club?

It is just another small soccer club.

OP, we are not at ROSA but we have played them a few times. A couple of their teams have played in EDP I so imagine they have good players but I don’t know what their training sessions are like.

DS team played their U10 team and they played really well. Coach seemed nice not a “yeller” like some coaches.

Does he quietly pass written notes to the kids during games?

Stay away!! Leadership disagreements caused the director to make an unprofessional decision to cancel the season for many boys teams. Cancelling final practices AND actually forfeiting teams from the final tournaments of the season out of spite. Utter disbelief by all families and a huge disappointment to so many kids! Completely shameful.

A month ago, I would have recommended them to anyone. Now, I would advise to stay far away. They are burning their boys side down because one of their coaches is leaving and it looks like all of his players want to follow him. They are small mom & pop shop, who I think will just focus on girls non-competitive now. We were considering them, and got to speak to some families at try-outs...nope, not for us.

ROSA's incoming head coach for the boys side seems good, but the owner handled her disagreement with the outgoing head coach about as poorly as possible, withdrawing the boys teams from tournaments out of spite and sending the parents increasingly unhinged emails justifying her behavior. Stay away.

The coach used the kids as bargaining chips to get the job at Potomac so he could jump on the ECNL bandwagon

Promised Potomac he could bring whole teams with him for them to cherry-pick players to help fix their poor ECNL showing of 23/24

Allegedly

I cant see how anyone could ever choose to join ROSA going forward. However bad things were internally, the families were punished. That should be enough for you to stay far away.

Hopefully this thread stays around as a warning. Good luck to everyone, wherever you land. There are some really good clubs out there.

Since the coach who took all the boys and wrecked the club has left, I'd assume this situation is a one and done at Rosa

I highly doubt that. The coach left, who cares, doesn't sound like he had anything to do with wrecking of the club. Appears the damage was done by internal actions to try and punish everyone. That damage is everlasting.

OMG people. A coach is like any company employee. They come and go each and every day. Some resign, some get fired.

No one is forcing the players to follow him. If players are following him would mean that he’s a great coach. (I don’t know who he is.)

We have left and stayed at clubs and coaches in the past. Quite a few of my DD’s current teammates are leaving to another club because they didn’t like the coach, but my DD is staying cause she likes her coach.

So what’s the big deal?

How do multiple teams follow a coach to another club at once?
How is there organic room at the new club for so many new players?

This isn't just coach changing clubs and a couple players going with him/her
