Colby used to be high on the rankings. DD likes it but I'm not sure now. |
Obv they donโt chase rankings. I give it a plus. Read up on UF and how it rose in rankings (vs just focusing on academics and student experience) |
OP is right. Colby is clearly worse than it was 2 months ago. Because USNWR decided different things were more important this year than they were in the past. ๐๐๐๐๐
#CollegeRankingsAreStupid |
Itโs a little suspect that they donโt release their common data set. |
This. The new methodology is dumb. I hope USNWR is on its way to oblivion. |
On its way? The college rankings are the last vestige of anything for USNWR. Itโs not a print publication, itโs not an online news source, itโs literally just college rankings. Tough business model. |
Colby does chase the rankings. Donโt they accept the common app with no supplements and no fee? It is all about increasing the number of applications |
Exactly. Number of applications or admission rates has nothing to do with USNWR rankings.
|
With so many posters lamenting colleges dropping in the rankings (see also the recent threads on Tulane and Wake), are people also flocking to submit apps to whichever colleges conversely climbed up in the rankings?? |
Nothing happened. Colby is the same. |
Oh yeah, people apply to the top X schools. I realized itโs all a crock after reading articles like this. https://www.chronicle.com/article/the-rules-of-the-game I mean look for reputable universities, but if your kid does end up at a โtoo easyโ undergrad, they will excel as a tippy too student and end up with good job offers and professional/grad school options. Itโs pretty self correcting. |
Compared to the other NESCACS, Colby was toward the bottom. |
Arenโt all required to do it. |
No. They are required to submit the information to DoE, but not to make it publicly available. |
Colby hater is back!
Colby is still awesome, with a great faculty and facilities. Been a great place to get an education for a long time and will continue to be so for a long time. |
