Can we stop crapping on UMCP

Anonymous
For MANY kids it is an excellent option to get an affordable, close, top notch education.

The bashing mostly comes from UVA boosters.

UMCP is a great option for Maryland residents. If OOS students want an option in the Wash DC area, it's a solid choice.

Stop trolling. No one is crapping on UMD.

I haven’t seen any. Where did you see it?

Maryland has a horrible football coach and they way over paid for him.

Same. UMDCP has an excellent reputation in a number of fields.

I mostly hear people lamenting how hard it is to get admitted. I don’t think I’ve ever heard people bashing it. I am in state, so maybe that’s why.

We were looking at UMDCP as our best instate option and I was depressed by that, honestly. Now we live in California and have so many options, it's a relief.

Depressed by what?

+1. My big criticism of it is that there isn’t much of a campus or college town feel. Michigan, UVA, Mass also have it beat on that.

+1. Agree!

UMD is objectively a good school, especially in STEM. But a lot of kids who grew up nearby just really want to get further away for college. I think the other issue is its location is not appealing to some students.

This. We literally live within walking distance to campus and my kids do NOT want to go there.

This is the issue for any school, if you happen to live near campus.

There isn’t much of a campus? What are you talking about? Maryland has a beautiful campus.
