Where to take out of towners for dinner near White House, Farragut North or closeby Red line?

Looking for a place for dinner for six people to catch up. One of the out of town guests is vegetarian. One can't eat dairy. Otherwise open to all types of food. Not too high end, thinking entrees not above $30, ideally a fair bit lower.

Outdoor seating options is nice but can do inside as long as it's not too loud. Bonus if it has some kind of DC feel since they're first time visitors from San Francisco.

This sounds like it will meet all of OPs criteria.

Classic Washington is the Old Ebbitt Grill, the restaurant where backroom deals were made for decades.

Although a few of the entrees are over $30, it otherwise meets the rest of the requirements and is a part of Washington history.

+1 might be a bit loud but this is what I’d go with.

Rasika has wonderful food but was a bit hectic last night.

Old Ebbit would be a + on the security aspect too.

Mid-teen carjacker near Rasika was shot to death before 11 pm last night.
