Roughly $105k before the additional fees (uniform, bus etc). Two kids at $50k+ private.
This year HHI will be $1.4M but it hasn’t been that high in the past and it varies. I’d say the average of our last 5 years of income was right around 900K. |
| 430k HHI, 45k (tuition and fees) for one child, second year in private school. It is more of a stretch for us than most, especially because we have no family money subsidizing the tuition. But it’s doable and completely worth the sacrifice. |
Annoying. Esp when OP doesn’t report the info herself. |
| Ugh. Not this post again. |
|
HHI 175k
Annual tuition 10k. No FA |
| HHI $250k, we pay $0 - grandparents pay for the two kids, roughly the equivalent of $100k a year. Obviously we could never afford this ourselves. |
OP here. We are considering private school for our rising sixth grader but are not sure if it is worth it. Our HHI is 375k, and tuition would be around 50k. We have a pretty low mortgage payment (3500)- got it at low rates and before prices skyrocketed, and no other debt. No family support. |
Then said your kid. Everyone’s situation is a different. But if you haven’t started the process you need to get on it now. |
| HHI $220k. School $13k for one kid. |
Obnoxious. |
Make 100k less and only pay a little less. Wondering if I applied to the wrong schools.. |
| 175k take home. 45k for one. |

4 years of HS at ~50k per year, income was $280k at the start, now $340k
Not gonna lie, it was tight. And, we needed to do it for a variety of reasons, we have no regrets |
Just curious: why is this your setup? You don’t feel uncomfortable taking that kind of money from family? |
