Should I vote republican or a democrat? I despise both parties.

I'm an atheist. I believe in capitalism and free markets. I abhor the military-industrial complex. I'm concerned about human-induced climate change. I want lower taxes and somewhat less government. I support universal access to abortions, within some minor logical constraints. I feel like the LGBTQIA+ movement gets too much airtime and we don't need to bend over backwards for trans people. I despise trump and all the MAGA scum (because that's what they are). That said, I'd like to stop the flow of illegals across the southern border. I'd also love to see us allow in many more talented, educated people from all over world.

What do you think? After re-reading the above, I feel like I should probably vote republican, but i just hate most republican politicians!

I think you should read it again because more than 3/4 of it points to voting for Democrats.

Depends on how much weight you place on each item, not how many seemingly match one party or another. Also, consider each specific office you’re voting for and how likely you believe that candidate will uphold what’s important to you. What has been a candidate’s history on these matters? Are they saying or doing things suddenly near election time to appeal to voters? You don’t to have to vote solely for one party.

I think many people find themselves in the same boat as you, but maybe not on DCUM.

I feel similarly. I'd vote for Biden if the choice was between him and Trump. If the Republican was someone like Mitt Romney, I'd consider voting R, but let's face it, that's not going to happen.

Gosh, several of the Republican points are flawed. They are the biggest advocates for massive defense spending, they dropped free trade. As for gender issues, about the only "bend over backward" trans policies I see are bathrooms and sports, which are school board/state level issues. Gender affirming care is a matter of personal liberty and it's being fought at the state level.

Wow. I could have written this verbatim, minus the atheist part. I’m not very religious, but lean more spiritually agnostic. Everything else, you and I agree.

I usually hold my nose and vote Democrat. The choices suck so very much all around.
