They don’t have money for retirement and death is quick.

Motorcycles are fun, they'll get you where you are going, you won't spend nearly as much for gas as you would if you drove the SUV and you have a built-in excuse to leave the kids with your wife.

They are fun. It’s a shame they are so dangerous.

2 women I knew tangentially as we were new moms both lost husbands (separate collisions) when babies were infants. Nice country ride gone bad.

I'm a widow and participated in an online support group. There was an insane ratio of motorcycle crash widows. No one thinks it could happen to them.

I know 2 men who died recently in motorcycle accidents. One was a middle aged father of 3 and one was my friend's 19 year old son.

Hard to resist but stats are against it

A good friend’s H was adamant about keeping his motorcycle. Decided also to have a few drinks one night and ride with buddies where he crashed. Terrible head injury and survived, but will require custodial care for the rest of his life. When the surgeon asked her if she wanted to turn off the vent when things were still medically dicey and she asked my advice, (and I’ll say this bc this forum is anonymous) I said yes, it’s ok to turn it off. This couple wasn’t even 45 yet. “In sickness and in health” doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice the rest of your life bc of someone else’s bad choices. She allowed him to recover, it drained their savings, her children’s lives were all sidelined.

Very sad. SUV driver's fault, as usual. So many SUV drivers take left turns into oncoming traffic and hit motorcyclists. My best friend's dad died this way and the driver wasn't even charged, and it was 100% her fault. Makes me so angry.

(I'm a woman who loved, loved, loved my years of riding my motorcycle. I had a child in my 40's, though, and had to give it up...not because I am a dancer on the road, but because of drivers like this who just don't see motorcycles.)

I'll tell you why. Nothing, nothing has ever made me feel so alive. Nothing else quiets all the voices in my ADHD brain. Nothing keeps me 100% in the moment, without 6-8 different channels of thought and music, most with at least two streams of words of abusive self-recrimination. But when I am riding a motorcycle, all I can do is engage all of my senses in being in the moment, hearing everything around me, looking around me, being present. It is joyful and peaceful. It is hot and uncomfortable or Cole and uncomfortable sometimes, but I don't mind it. Every part of my skin is in it. It quiets my brain and lets me just be.
