My daughter is great at it. I feel silly even typing this out, but my older daughter was saying that "everyone knows" that the girls who play volleyball are "mean girls." I mostly rolled my eyes but a friend in another area said it's the same in their area. Is that really true? |
Lol I think it’s school by school
At my school, the mean girls were the softball players. Anecdotally, my SIL was a volleyball player who went to college on a volleyball scholarship. 100% mean girl! |
Maybe it's just their competitive nature being misunderstood. |
The meanest girl in my dd's middle school friend group made the volleyball team this year. I don't think she's actually mean deep down but sometimes it seems like she's play acting from the "mean girls" movie. So far the other friends shut it down most of the time she's trying to stir up drama, at least from what I overhear during carpools. |
When I played volleyball we were the nice girls and the mean girls played lacrosse. My how times change. |
I graduated from high school in 2007 and volleyball did seem to attract not-the-nicest crowd. |
Yes. |
At our school its the soccer girls that are the mean girls. |
None of the girls I know that play volleyball are at all mean. Two are on the super nice end of the spectrum, and the other is a little temperamental, but not mean. |
Exactly. Athletic girls tend to have more confidence and take less crap than others. |
No. Eyeroll is correct. |
I think they come across as super confident. They are very athletic and have to be competitive.
Personally, I don’t know how they can walk around everywhere in those tiny shorts that are almost the size of my underwear. That takes some serious confidence. I say this as a mom of a player and as someone who spends a significant amount of time in volleyball carpools. |
VB is definitely a mean girl sport at our school. |
Wow I had no idea how many people associate girls sports with mean girl behaviors. I didn't play sports in high school (I was a drama nerd). My DD is an athlete though. Is this common? |
What a sexist thread. |
