Given the rise of the likelihood of terrorism in DC, can our local criminals be viewed as diverting resources?

it's a given that our threat levels just went up. This makes me doubly angered at local criminals right now. Can there be an emergency act against them given how they are diverting resources that should be used to thwart any/all terroristic threats?

huh?

I don’t think DHS’s resources are being utilized on DC street crime…

I am fully more concerned at this point with metro, water supplies etc. I would want every law enforcement apparatus, all of them, to be in a high alert state not distracted by foolish ATV drivers and teen carjackers. Enough is enough.

The function I can see for the National Guard is roadblocks. Instead of chasing teen jackers, stop them in their tracks.

Why. are you using the word terrorism? This is oppressive, dangerous language.

Your neighborhoods are not being bombed, your women are not being raped in mass, your children are not being kidnapped and no one is beheading your grandparents.

Seek help OP and leave the District.

You did not read the title, and hence you are overreacting.

DC crime is at an all time high. I felt the same way about crime during covid. there are only so many resources to go around to keep everyone safe. Selfish.

Short answer: No, there cannot.

Longer answer: Why is it a given that our threat levels just went up? Do we have an essentially unguarded land border with territory controlled by Hamas?

Hamas has issued threatening statements against allies of Israel. In my mind, a threatening statement is a threat.

I remember after 911 MPD used additional federal anti-terrorism money to buy leather jackets. Is that the sort of diversion of resources you’re talking about?

DC criminals are like terrorists, shooting people as they carjack then, then driving recklessly throughout the city endangering more lives.

Hamas said they would target Americans if America intervened militarily. We are already sending weaponry

Sure. We have an actual threat from RWNJs. Hamas is not a threat to the US or Washington DC. The people who support Jim Jordan and the J6’ers are much more likely to unleash terrorism in the US. Remember there were two bombs placed in the city on J5.
