| It's advertised on MCPS careers for the current school year. Is she retiring? |
yes
|
| Yes, she just sent an email around yesterday announcing her retirement in December. I'm really bummed -- she's been a great principal IMO. |
| I think she was the longest-tenured of all the current high school principals. |
| If it’s for this year, will they put in an interim? Would they hire a current middle school principal and create a vacancy there? |
If they post the position like this, it is for a new permanent principal. |
| That is a bummer. Thought she was wonderful during my kids' time at WJ. |
| It's a bummer, and it seems like an odd time to retire, and not waiting until the end of the school year. Any of these huge Moco high schools can easily decline without a strong principal. |
I'm so sad. She is amazing. I also wonder about the timing. Maybe she has some type of family milestone (new grandchild) or a health issue? Or maybe she has reached her breaking point. |
The letter said best timing for her family. |
| Can you share the email? |
why? if you are a current wj family you got it. If you’re not why do you need to read it? |
New poster. I don't think you necessarily need to post the whole email, but people from the community are invested in the school. We have a recent grad, for instance. Other people might be sending kids to WJ in a few years. |

The student newspaper has a story:

| I’m not worried about this at all because MCPS has great processes in place for selecting high school principals. |
