I’m finally, finally, on a downward trajectory in my weight loss. But I’m tired. And I’m hungry. And I’m ready to give up. I need words of encouragement, some sort of mantra, to keep pushing forwards. What can I tell myself when I’m ready to give up, ready to eat junk, ready to skip the gym? |
I don’t know if this would help you but it helps me. Your body doesn’t want to lose weight. It’s doing everything it can to undermine you. The hormones are what’s making you want to eat. Your only hope is overcoming them with your conscious thoughts. |
I started Noom a few weeks ago and have lost over 15 pounds. I have A LOT to lose and am thinking of bariatric surgery, but am trying this and seeing if it gets me closer... |
I’m down 15 pounds over the last 6-7 weeks. Need to knock off at least 5 more. I think it gets easier week by week. I’m not missing my desserts anymore like i was.
Stay strong OP! |
What do you like about what you're doing now?
Do you like the endorphin rush after a workout? Do you enjoy the discipline of counting calories? Do you like the camaraderie of a group workout? If you know what works for you, we can build on that. |
I bought a pair of size 8 jeans today (that fit!). I was a tight 12 six months ago. That’s the motivation for me, to be healthier and to not feel self conscious about my weight. Not sure that can be a mantra but maybe set some specific interim goals.
I also record my weight in my Fitbit app for every pound lost. That’s also a motivator- I want to be able to enter a new weight. |
What are you doing to lose weight?
On Weight watchers there are always zero point foods so I can eat if I'm hungry, I don't have to starve myself to lose. Plain yogurt with sliced banana and a one point drizzle of honey is a hearty snack before bed. And yes I'm losing consistently. |
are you losing too much too fast? how many calories a day? |
Give yourself a treat day, and get back on the wagon tomorrow. Honestly. It’ll be ok. Just be mindful of the fact that it’s a planned break, not a failure. If you have been taking planned breaks and are still feeling this way, maybe you need to plan to slow down with your weight loss a little bit for a while (not permanently) — eat a little bit more than you have, like planning an extra snack like the pp above mentioned (yogurt and fruit, or a chocolate covered banana before bed, or a bowl of popcorn). Adjust your goal to maintain for a week and see if you’re feeling less stressed. Stress makes you fat. |
