Did anyone watch?

I participated in the last round of "listening sessions" around 10 years ago. No one in DC government actually cared what people in my neighborhood said. It was all just for show.

what changes are we expecting this time?

It was good, but it was more polling and talking about process and steps. No actual proposals or “scenarios” yet

Advisory Committee member here: the consultants are soliciting ideas for what to include in the modeling for the three scenarios*, with those ideas due by the end of next week. If you have suggestions to include in the model, complete the DME feedback form (again, if you’ve already done it):

* the three scenarios that will be modeled will follow the Committee’s guiding principles of 1) strong by-right neighborhood schools, 2) programmatic options and pathways, and 3) opportunities for those historically discriminated and marginalized

Regarding PP’s comment that DC gov didn’t listen last time around, perhaps. And they might not listen to the community-based committee members this time either, but please do weigh in because it does help us represent your voices.

For what purpose?

For what purpose?

So we can all be called Karen’s.

I’m with you, PP: there’s no point. DC gov will do what they want bc, in their eyes, our kids will be “just fine” no matter what.

There has already been a decision about who matters and who doesn't. These community input sessions are a farce.

Agree 100%. Not worth my time.

I went to a ANC meeting last time around and voiced a concern about a proposed boundary line in my neighborhood. The next draft, and the final map, were adjusted per my comment. It was 100% worth my time.

It can't possibly have been about your comment. The request you made must have suited someone who mattered. Or perhaps you are someone who matters.

Those of us who do not matter to DCPS do not get listened to. In fact, it is now considered virtuous to deny us.

I think DC's mayor and her staff believe that she ignores the views of privilege hoarders to her peril. I think they are embarrassed to give in to segregationist views, but do so because they know how what these people really want.

The left-of-limousine liberals in DC say a lot, get listened to little, and I think DC government realizes they aren't here in big numbers, though they can vote in CMs like Lewis George.
