I thought you all might like this richmonder’s dive into the history of defunding VA schools and how it still affects us all today.

Totally fascinating (and depressing). Thanks for sharing. |
Wow. I was wondering why VA schools seem so f-ed up.
Of course the conservatives are to blame. |
In particular, the VA Democratic Party led the "massive resistance" efforts. Read the history closely. |
The conservatives? Yes, they have always sucked. |
Don’t need to read it bc I already know about it. People in this area fail to understand that VA is a southern state and the extent of racism is far more insidious than other southern states. It’s racism wrapped up in “good intentions” |
You need to understand that Republicans and Democrats were essentially the opposite of what they are today. The resistant democrats back then are today's Republicans. |
I see no indication of "good intentions" in this entire article. |
Thanks, OP. That was very interesting. And it was entertainingly written. |
VA schools are some of the best in the country |
-said no one who has lived in areas with excellent schools |
Hey Glenn! |
No wonder education in our country is in such dire straights. |
Well, Virginia is ranked 6th in the country on this list: https://www.intelligent.com/the-best-and-worst-states-for-education/ |
For PK-12 it’s not even in the top quarter of states: https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/rankings/education/prek-12 |
